Weinberg, Peterson and Leonhardt, L-R

Brad Peterson, Michael Weinberg and Whitaker Leonhardt from HFF's Orlando office were recently honored at NAIOP Central Florida’s (NAIOP CFL) Best of the Best Awards Gala, which celebrates the achievements of Central Florida commercial real estate developers, owners, investors and brokers.

Senior Managing Director Brad Peterson was named the Top Retail Sales Broker of the Year, while Senior Managing Director Michael Weinberg was honored as the Top Financing Broker of the Year.

“While this event primarily recognizes individual brokers, I am most proud of our team as a whole and that the majority of the brokers in our office were recognized as winners in their respective categories,” Peterson said. “I am also proud of our fantastic support team of talented analysts, transaction coordinators and graphics personnel that help make our packages and process best-in-class and help provide excellent service to our clients.”

Together, Peterson and Weinberg are co-heads of HFF’s Orlando office and have both been involved with NAIOP leadership, with Weinberg currently serving on the Board of Directors as its secretary and Peterson, a former board member, currently serving on 2019 NAIOP Central Florida Chapter Executive Council.  Additionally, Weinberg is a past recipient of NAIOP’s Top Land Sales Broker of the Year, Investment Broker of the Year (specialty category) and Rookie of the Year, among others, including being previously named the Top Financing Broker of the Year.

“NAIOP’s advocacy, education and networking is tremendously influential to the local commercial real estate community,” Weinberg said. “This is an extraordinary event honoring some of the best developers and brokers in the Central Florida region.  I’m grateful to be a part of it.”

Senior Director Whitaker Leonhardt was named the Top Developing Leader of the Year, which is awarded to the top producer in Central Florida who is under the age of 35.

“It was a total surprise and a big honor to receive the 2018 Top Developing Leader of the Year award,” Leonhardt said.  “It makes me appreciate all of the talented people I work with at HFF, our tremendous and generous clients and, most important, my family members and mentors who continue to support and teach me.”

Peterson and Leonhardt comprise a top-performing retail team that closed a variety of notable Orlando-area retail deals over the past year, including the sales of Dellagio Town Center, Center of Winter Park, Fountains at Bayhill and Marketplace at Seminole Towne Center, along with the sale of International Drive Value Center.  Recently, Weinberg and his first-rate debt placement team arranged financing for a student housing property on the University of Central Florida campus, the Grand Bohemian Hotel, Home 2 Suites hotel developments in Sarasota and Largo and the Embassy Suites Orlando Downtown.

This years’ winners were recognized at the March gala, which NAIOP CFL created to recognize the top brokers and development projects. The top ten brokers in the following categories were recognized: office, retail and industrial investment sales. The top five brokers in multifamily and land investment sales and financing were also recognized, and the top performer in each category received an award.

"NAIOP Central Florida's Best of the Best Awards Gala honors the top developments and brokers in our community in various categories, as well as the top Developing Leaders, Developer of the Year and a special Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Lindsay Winter, NAIOP CFL executive director. “There is no requirement to be a NAIOP member to submit for an award or participate. NAIOP leadership's goal is to honor the best in the business. Congratulations to all of the winners of this year's event!"
